Why do some of your NPK fertilizers indicate only two nutrients? For example: N (ammonium nitrate) and K (potassium chloride). Does this mean that these products do not have a phosphorus component?
No. According to the REACH Registration Guide for multi-constituent substances, only nutrients constituting concentration of 10-80% of weight are to be indicated. Therefore all substances constituting less than 10% concentration weight are not registered. However, according to requirements of the Consumer Rights Laws we are to specify all components used in production. Our customers can always learn about the structure of a product in its Safety Data Sheet and conformity certificates.
Why you have pre-registered some NPK fertilizers as multi-constituent substance?
The reason for this has to do with the technology employed by the plants whose interests we represent. REACH makes a distinction between mixtures which are created from several singular component substance (in fertilizer production these are referred to as blends) and multi-constituent substances containing several simple substances “ in a reactionary enclosure”. Therefore according to this technology we have qualified some of our clients’ production as “multi-constutient substance”. Some products were registered in this way, but far from all of them. More details on our pre-registered substances can be found at the “Substance” section of our site.
